What to Expect

In module 4, we will continue our conversation about trauma. The goal of this module is to be more trauma-informed so that in your daily practice with children you can provide them with resources and strategies to help regulate their emotions.

Just like the previous module, there may be content in this module that might trigger strong emotions, pause, and take a break to take care of yourself before continuing. If you find that you need to speak to someone, feel free to reach out to me or our college Counselor for help. She is able to schedule online appointments or phone calls to speak with you.

Insert information about your counseling department here.

For this module, you will learn about stress and how it can affect children's brains as well as symptoms and behaviors in children who have experienced trauma. Then you will move into learning about Self-Care and Wellness for Children including skills for supporting children's emotional development. Additionally, you will look at the importance of children's physical development.

You will also gain an understanding of how to help children understand their own brains (preschoolers and older), plus ways to teach mindfulness to children and strategies to help children calm themselves down and protecting children.
